Aspiring Mountaineer Programme
The following is Ms Liew's message regarding AMP
Hi,
Having participated in the OE programmes organised for you in June, you may want to consider attending the Aspiring Mountaineer Programme.
The Singapore Women's Everest Team (SWET) is orgaining an Aspiring Mountaineer Programme on 2nd and 3rd Aug.
SWET was formed in 2004 with the aim of sending the first team of Singaporean women to the top of the world's highest peak--Mount Everest, at 8848m. Following a rigorous training schedule over a period of four years, we now have an impressive number of climbs under our belt. SWET has also entered the Singapore Guiness Book of Records for climbing above the infamous "Death Zone" in excess of 8000m in altitude (Mount Cho Oyu, 8201m).
On 2 August, SWET is launching its inaugural Aspiring Mountaineers' Programme (AMP). The AMP combines a motivational sharing segment, personal goal-setting and a hands-on experience to fully engage our youth participants. AMP is a community outreach initiative by SWET. It is their way of sharing our learning experiences with youths and through our personal example, encourage our youths to dare to dream.
In addition, on 3rd Aug at Yishun Safra, they will hold a workshop which includes a series of activities (such as artificial ice-wall climbing, abseiling and rope ascending) spanning 4 hours to stimulate a mini Everest experience.
You can look at the attached document for more details about the programme.
